Back with more questions. Mabey some of the reason I'm not getting anything deep-{old}is,if I get a high tone east and west but none north and south I don't dig. right or wrong ? If you get a strong high tone east and west sort of north but not south do you dig? Heres a question I haven't seen here yet! After you find a hole to dig do you just lay your detector down on the ground, after a couple hundred times I'm afraid it might damage my detector! Do any of you tape foam or something on the detectors side that you lay it on? One more question for you CZ-3D owners what is the best hard case to carry my detector in?

When you're dealing with a really deep coin, a coin on edge, or a coin in mineralized ground or possibly near another object, there is a very likely chance that you won't get a 4-way repeat. If you get a consistent 2-way repeat it's good policy to dig it. At least until you have dealt with those kinds of signals enough to know what you are listening for. If you're hunting in areas where there are some old coins I suspect you have passed up a few silvers from what you have said. If it sounds even a little good, I would dig it until you get experienced with the machine.
As to the rest of it, your 3D has a detector stand, right? Just don't manhandle it and set it down gently and it should be fine. Not sure about the hard case question. Maybe somebody else knows.

Check with a Fisher dealer, i think CZ5 cace will fit, or put ad in one if the classified forums for what you want <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Unless your traveling someplace, a hard case is not practicle. Because you will have to dismantle your machine, both lower and middle rods along with disconnecting the coil and removing it from the rods. Its a real pain if you use it at least once or twice a week. I just sold one a few months ago for that very reason.
But they are great for air travel or going on vacation. As far as laying your machine down, Fishers are build pretty tough and shouldn't get damaged unless you drop the control box on the ground. They are built to last and thats why they have a lifetime warranty.

Mike
