What tones..?

Chevist

New member
A question for you Veteran DEUS users...I am new to the DEUS..(like 5- hours under my belt..) I am used to the AT-PRO.. ( 3-tones..)
what would you recommend I start out with ..? 3,4,or just learn the foreign language from the beginning and go full tones..?
and any other tips would be greatly appreciated.. I have been using 4-tones for now ...I am finding things, but nothing of significance...
which could very well be just my hunting sites... I do have some good prospects though, and would like to start getting a hold of this
machine before I go to them... Any help would be appreciated..,Thanks.

I would do what ever you are comfortable with. Full tones can get a little over whelming in the beginning especially using 0 disc. Iron objects are the same volume as good targets but the VDI # will give them away.. I would use 3 or 4 tones to learn the machine at first. When your comfortable with using the Deus I would set up the same program in the next program slot using full tones. Then detect using 3 or 4 tones when you get a target before you dig it switch to the full tones program and see how that target sounds in full tones. That way you work into full tones slowly and soon you will be hunting in full tones all the time.

The AT Pro and Deus will have similar VDI to targets if you run the Deus in 12 khz and turn off normalization. If you're just getting started, run Basic1 but change to Full Tones and leave everything else alone. This way, if you are used to the AT Pro numbers then you can associate a "nickel hit" with a VDI of 53-56 and its correspondent tone with the Deus. Basic1 is also ROUGHLY the equivalent of the AT Pro's "Coin Mode" if I remember correctly with similar preset notching and iron rejection...

Once you get the program set up, put the controller in your pocket or car - this way you learn the TONES first. It may take a little longer than learning 3 or 4 tone audio but it will suddenly "click" and you'll dig more good audio targets rather than relying on VDI. Learn Full Tone audio first, it pays off tremendously down the road! :beers:

Just my $0.02 though!
