What's as good as gold & diamonds - -

Platinum is. I was in a well worked over park today and only got 3 things there. But one is this platinum ring with 10 diamonds ! I tested the diamonds and they are real. You can see the plat in the stamp inside the band. Diamonds are kinda small but I'll take it :) This is only my second platinum item in 31 years detecting. I dug a necklace some years ago.

Here's my take for the day - 68 coins, 2 rings, a huge token & misc jewelry.

This huge token was right up against the center metal structure in a tot lot. I was going to & fro the metal and heard the extra sound. Hard to believe people can miss this but it was pretty close to the metal. My Fisher can get within inches before sounding off. With so many people detecting now a lot of things I dig are close to metal and being missed.

When I got up at 5 am to miss the kids & heat in the parks my wife said "you're nuts" for getting up then. But this ring shows otherwise :)

PS. I waited to post this till I saw my jeweler. He said it was worth $150.00 scrap value and whatever I could get for it having diamonds. I'm keeping it so it doesn't really matter. Stevesteve in so az

Fantastic finds, Steve! For those of us who haven't found 'anything' platinum, how would we know if it's platinum or not? Are there markings saying such?

it is stamped PLAT or Platinum inside the band. The item looks just like a non precious ring so one has to look carefully. It wasn't until I got home and checked things with my magnifier that I knew I had a goodie. There's probably a few of these lying in digger's junk boxes around the country. steve
