By best I mean $$$ and how good it works vs cost. Also if you use a PI let's have a poll and see what the users say. My Stingray 2 is not made for the saltwater. If you have a PI collecting dust let me know.
I don't know about best but my favorite is the PI PRO my next favorite would be the the Detector Pro Headhunter PI... I'm saving my money hopefully for the new Whites PI if they ever release it lol... Otherwise I'll get on the waiting list for one of Eric Fosters machines..
SandShark: Good machine, just doesn't get the depth like some of the others. Even bought the 11" coil to add some depth and coverage.
Infinium: Great machine but too much falsing in certain areas and at certain beaches.
Eric Fosters Gold Quest: (older version) Outstanding machine. You can swing it all day and not get tired. Hits hard on nickles and gold. In my opinion it runs circles around my other two machines. It's my main PI machine.
Never tried the Whites Surf Pro but a buddy of mine had one and he always did great with it.
I recently purchased a Garrett Sea Hunter and love it. It goes from dry sand to wet sand to underwater with minimal falsing.
Have not had much luck at the beach( only been there once this year Gulf Shores)
Mike
I got my hands on a Goldscan 5 last year, just been out this afternoon for a couple of hours, pulling 5 pence coins from over 18", punishing on the arms digging that depth in wet sand, but I know that if there's any gold down there, I will have it in my pouch.
fantastic machine, plenty of feedback on targets once you get to know it, size, depth, and makeup of targets can be heard...but you gotta listen to it real good...every whisper..
I may get the whites TDI if only I could find out where to get on over here in good old blighty, I reckon it will be very much like the Goldscan ( i hope )
HI mike i was reading you have the Garrett mark 2,is it hard to learn, how is it in depth?I have the Garrett infinium ls boy its a hard detector to learn!!!I was thinking of getting a excal the
iron mask is a good thing to have,i live in Louisiana where are you from,I went to Pensacola last week end,I know the LS is a good gold finder because i found a back to a ear ring gold it was down about 2inch's,BUT it seams like you just have to dig all is that the way it should be????thanks for your ear!!!!!!!LS HUNTER
A detector is only as good as the person swinging it.. no matter what detector you buy they will have shortcomings.. all of them.. some more than others...
I have tried supposedly the best water machine and I didn't like it but that's just me it doesn't mean its not a great detector..
Successful water hunters can read a beach and the water and hunt those spots..
The cost of the machine has nothing to do with finding gold or whatever... I use a PI that cost me $625 new almost 3 years ago when I became hooked to waterhunting and this machine has found over 300 rings in that time span.. not all gold I wish
For me research is most important.. I researched all of the places I detect.. I read the beaches when I arrive as they are always changing...
