Can anyone ID? Oval portion is about 7/8" long. Round portion spins freely, and tips back/forth on stem that is attached "ball and socket" style to oval part under teat. There is writing on round piece, but all that's legible are bits & pieces, including: "APR.19.18." (part of patent date); "SON" and something that looks like "PLOCS." or "PLUGS."
Area produced Connecticut Copper 50' away, along with modern stuff. ID's between nickel and zinc penny. Any help appreciated. HH Dan

Steve is right( I think ) they are usually made from brass or copper...d2

...of approximately how old? Legible part of patent date suggests 1800's. Would it be latter part? Any site where I might learn how it was used or see a photo? Again, thanks for the response. HH, Dan
