Where can I buy 9-volt RECHARGABLE batteries for my HH PI?

Spending way too much on batteries. Which is the best? I've seen rechargable NIMH batteries, are they okay? Questions, questions, questions...!

Just keep in mind that rechargeable 9v batteries only hold about 150-175mah of energy depending on the brand and a normal akaline 9volt battery holds around 750mah of energy meaning you will only be able to hunt 1/5th the time that you normally could before you have to recharge them. Rechargeable 9v batteries aren't really a good option for metal detectors due to thier low capacity.

get the highest mah battery when i had the hhpi i used the rechargeable batterys but they only give you about 3 hours worth of hunting to solve this problem i got 4 9 volt batterys and brought the extras out in the field with me when ir started to go dead i jest changed them quick this way your running hot most of the time when i got back home i jest put them on the charger for the next day of hunting also get a volt tester (multi-meter) to make sure your getting the correct volts before you leave home if i remember right the hhpi has a volt regulator so you can use a higher 9 volt battery 9( LIKE THE 9.6 ) so you dont have to worry about frying your pi it will clock down to the correct voltege but last longer hh larry ca

Thanks for the input folks. Currently (pun intended) I'm using Duracell Coppertop's and get approximately 6 hours of good hunting... After that my PI seems to get squirly... Chattering and fading signal.
I buy a pack of 8 batteries at Costco for about $12.50. I go through approx. 4 batteries per week... Starts to get expensive after awhile.
Thanks for the input... Mike

Very knowledgeable people have advised that you DO NOT use rechargables in the Headhunter PI. I'm hearing from this discussion that you can use them, but only for about 3 hours before you need to replace the batteries with a new set. Considering a PI and I want to make sure I have this right. Ken

The manufacture of the Headhunter, has had the biggest problem with non rechargeable batteries with Duracell Coppertop's. This is over all other alkaline cells.

You are correct. You shouldn’t use rechargeable 9 volt cells in the Headhunter PI. The usable working time with them installed will be very short, and will require changing out the batteries at a rate of about 3 times to one over the alkaline’s.
