Where do US gold coins read on the VDI

I was wondering if any of you would tell me where $1.00, $2 1/2, $5, $10 and $20 US gold pieces read on the VDI. Do they vary like rings? If I notch out pull tabs, will I eliminate gold coins? Thanks.

the only one i know personally is a $10.00 gold eagle (mine is 1888.) it reads exactly like zinc penny. i put it and a zinc penny under a rug and couldn't tell the difference. food for thought eh? btw, this was in conductive audio, not ferrous... haven't made that test in ferrous yet. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> hh.

Some one posted here that a 5 dollar gold coin will come in at 55 vdi.

My research has revealed that over 90% of all SINGLE coin gold coin finds are $5.00 (Half Eagle) gold pieces. They VDI 50 to 55 on the scale. When hunting at sites that were used prior to 1933, be sure to dig ALL such signals. When you find your Half Eagle, be sure to post pics here! HH Jim
