Where is everyone??????

Maybe everyone is busy hunting:shrug: Here is a topic for discussion.....How many of you use the high trash setting? I have become pretty proficient using the low trash setting. Using the high trash I just cant get used to the chirps and blips it gives me for signals.

Absolutely been hunting. Plenty of clad and canslaw to show for it too!

I hunt hi trash at parks and schools, low trash at the beach and in the woods/fields. Cant say that I am good enough to tell signal/sound difference between the two, but then again probably 90% of what I hunt is hi trash areas.

Yeah, all the forums are slow..seems Minelab, Christian, Atpro, and Tesoro forums get some decent daily chatter, I hope everybodys out hunting and too tired to post!

Only off work, Sun & Mon so can't hunt until those two days. I've not been finding much more then Penny's when I do hunt. I hunt mainly parks, ball field areas, & places where homes use to be but now looks like a grass yard. So I hunt in High trash setting 99.9 % of the time, been reading Safari book and saw how should try and use the low trash setting more and only use the high trash as an exception but when I do use it where I am hunting it seems way to slow to pick things up, I feel like I never hear the hum of the threshold when on low trash. Good luck to all and I'm looking forward to my days off.

I mostly hunt in Low Trash setting, I find the sounds in high trash mode very annoying. I think I read in Andy's book that you get a little better depth in Low Trash mode & the TID is more accurate. The High Trash mode will give you quicker recovery time for those trashy areas.

What "mode" are folks running in?

I have been playing lately with 'all metal"... what do you all feel about that mode?

Would like to hear if anyone else uses that.

I run conductive but screen out lots of the sprectrum in hi trash areas. Just go for coins and silver unless I have reason to suspect its a good gold area.
At the beach, I open all positives in conductive, tho if its Real trashy in the dry, I'll screen some of that out when I get tired of digging up the trash's trash.

It's interesting to see there have been 98 lookers on your post but only 8 or 9 posts! I used to post on this Forum fairly regularly because I hunt mostly with a Safari and sometimes my ATPro, but seeing as I beach detect mostly, I usually post on the Beach, Water and Scuba Dive Forum. I always check daily, this and Today's Finds/Metal Detecting and others as well though.
The Minelabs (partial to my Safari) are AWESOME machines and I suspect that detectorists ARE detecting some great items, but maybe just posting on the other sites I mentioned. No matter, like I have mentioned, I don't exclusively post on this Forum BUT I always check the posts because I am still on the 'learning curve' and welcome any and all advice and tips.
Also, we are all at different levels of expertise from newbies to seasoned veterans so we should not be selfish with our hints and tips because we were all newbies once and learned from others.
SO KEEP THE POSTS COMING GUY'S!!

I also run All Metal mode so it wont null out, in All Metal Mode I can better hear the good stuff next to iron

I got a -10 reading that didn't sound like iron so I dug it & found a Indian Head in with the iron, if I was not in All Metal I probably would have missed it.

Good Stuff.

I appreciate all the input, as mentioned, we are all at different stages of expertise, so any and all info is great!

I am sure more folks have more tips, would really like to hear them!

Great input so far, thanks all for sharing!

I have been having a really good year this year with Safari except the last couple of weeks ground is too hard and dry to hunt.I have several other hobbies and it has been good to get out and do them also.Sorry no real good finds to post but I just sold $13.25 in silver at 17 to 1 and over $318.00 in clad. Was hunting 4 days a week.Squirrel season is on now, fishing has been great all year.I go to see my granddaughter in Kansas in September told me it would be too dry to hunt but they got 7 inches of rain last weekend.Kansas has been good to me silver wise but no real old coins. If I find anything good I will post it.

Ten dollars of that came from one Girl Scout Camp from the 1940's to 1969.Was like shooting fish in a barrel ,coins and scout stuff every where less than 6 inches deep.Silver is silver,Only problem was sister let me in, brother kicked me out before I was half done. Was fun while it lasted.
