I never paid much attention to various places that are potential sites for metal detecting until I got my detector for Christmas. Now that I am getting a feel for the hobby I constantly think about potential sites and look around parks and places I would expect to see detectorists. So far I think I have the City to myself as I have never spotted anyone else. I get out for at least a couple of hours nearly every day and you would think I would spot at least one person doing what I love to do. (Besides that! <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> I mean metal detecting!) But no, not a soul. So, who gets out frequently and where do you go? I'd like to hook up with someone who perhaps is retired like me and has time to get out during the week. Anyone interested send me an email. JIM

You will be surpised at how many are metal detecting and you dont see them. I have talked to several that when they mention where they are up here in ND and never seen anyone detecting I will mention several in the same small town they live I know detect.
When you go out you will sometime see tell tale signs of people that have detect, dead spot in the grass from plugs, some trash laying on top of the ground as some dont use a trash bag, lack of coins where you know there should be coins, but seems to be the normal trash at places where people gather at.
I dont get out everyday myself and know of some are lucky once a week, while others try to get out for a hour a day during the week and 8-10 hours on the weekends as this is a fun and rewarding hobby that can become adictive.
Let us know where you live and maybe there will be someone close to you that will be able to go detecting with you.

I live in Sand Springs just outside of Tulsa and just joined the ITTHC. I'm pretty sure I will meet some folks at the meetings as soon as I can get to one. Gotta' do some schedule arranging first.
