where is the x terra 705 made??

The label on mine is as follows....

Designed by Minelab Electronics, Australia.
Assembled for Minelab Electronics, Australia under contract by subsidiary of Plexus Corp, USA.
Made in Malaysia.

Correct me if I am wrong, Garrett, Whites, Tesoro, and Fisher-Technetics-Bounty Hunter are all Made in USA.

My 705 was manufactured in Australia. TomB

Minelab is part of Codan, which is an Australian company. So it should come to no surprise that Minelab detectors are not made in the US. Codan contracts a portion of their manufacturing to a company named Plexus. Plexus is a US company with manufacturing facilities around the globe. I read somewhere that a portion of Minelab hobby detectors are now being assembled by Plexus, in their Malaysia facility. I've also read that the US Army and US Marines are using Minelab Counter Mine detectors in our war against global terrorism. As far as I know, none of the US based detector companies are providing that technology. Only Minelab, the Australian company. With all that in mind, my 705 box says it was manufactured in Australia. In fact, all of the X-TERRAs I've owned were manufactured in Australia. On the other hand, my E-TRAC box indicates it was made in Ireland. My White's boxes say they were made in the US. I won't comment on Garretts, Tesoro or FT because I don't own any of them any more. I would assume that the majority of the assembly is done in the US, since they are all US companies. But we'd have to crack open the cases to see if which parts were made in the US and which parts are imported. Case in point......my new Chevrolet crewcab, (manufactured by General Motors, an American company who was bailed out by our US tax dollars), has a sticker inside the door panel that says it was assembled in Mexico. JMHO HH Randy

Hey Randy,
I hear a lot of stolen cars from US end up in Mexico. Hopefully your truck won't be making a round trip;)

Tesoro is manufactured in Arizona
