Which search coil do I use?

Does the eliptical 10" coil go deaper than the regular 10.5" spider coil? I have a 1270 and want to hunt an old park that has been hunted to death and there is no trash there, just real clean detecting. Wondered which coil would be better for the deepies. Wide open space with decent soil.

What 10" eliptical coil for the 1270 ??
The 10" eliptical coils are for the gold machines, not interchangable for 1270 type coils.

Hey Buck, maybe I'm missing something but you said you have a 1270 and the ad info you copied clearly does not include the 1270 in the list of applicable detectors.

None of them list the 1270 but when I called Kellyco they said that that one would work and other websites list the 10.5" spider coils under 1200 series or X-series coils. Let me know if it is not intended for the 1270 so I can cancel my order.

I see what you are saying...they don't list for the 1270. Except under the 1270 ad itself, where they only show the 10.5" Spider.
Well, if KellyCo said it's good for the 1270 and sold you one for it I guess it must be. I don't know, because I have a CZ-70. If it's not right they'll take it back.

It's not listed in the dealer parts list from Fisher for a 1270 or the other detector's you mentioned.
The only elliptical coil Fisher list is for the nugget hunting detector's, and there not interchangable with other Fisher units.
I have no idea what it is K.Co. has.

Buck, I have a used 10" eliptical coil I used on my 1266X. I no longer need the coil as I sold my 1266X. It's scratched up a bit as it didn't have a coil cover. If you would like to try the coil on the 1270 I will send it to you. If it doesn't work just send it back. If you want to keep it I'll take $40 for it. Let me know.

Just wanted to post a response in regards to the 10" elipticle coil for the 1270. I aquired one from an indivdual on this forum who had one that he used on a 1266. I put it on my 1270 and I am amazed at the performance that it brought out of my 1270 in the mineralized soil here. I can airtest just as deep as the 8 inch spider and I get much better target seperation due to the narrower coil, but can still get my normal scan pattern due to its length. Wow what a coil. Every one should have one for your 1270. I am now finding deep nickels at disc 5 and found my first silver quarter since I've been in Hawaii. Also digging lots of deep wheaties. Thanks Charles!!
