whites 6000di professional. can i get more depth???

I don't think there's much that can be done internally. You have all the controls you need. I would suggest larger coils.

Here's how I see it, trying to look at it from the manufacturer's perspective. If a company spent several years developing and testing a new design and finally releases it with many other manufacturers competing with their newest offerings, I'd guess they pretty much "tweaked" their design already.

If all somebody had to do was open it up, turn some magic dial or change a 50-cent part for a dollar version and it suddenly hunted 2 inches deeper, common sense says the detector designers would have already done that themselves.

Well, maybe there's some statistical variations that personal fine-tuning could improve upon an individual machine to hunt a specific area "better," and lower-cost designs can often be modified to add the features of their more expensive brethren. But, by and large, my guess is the "simple" things that can be done have been done at the factory.

However, none of the above, however true, ever stops me from wondering and maybe trying a few things myself! :D

In my experience working on detectors that has been not true. A little clip here, replace a part there and the detector goes inches deeper. I really don't know what the engineers are thinking, but manufacterers do limit the potential of their detectors. Components make a big difference in performance, you would be suprised.

Mr. Bill tweaks Whites detectors for better depth and stability so one would guess its possible...add FCC regs which limit manufacturers and certainly would think so in some cases as we have many talented detectorist modders...
