White's Beach Hunter ID Moisture Problem (New Need Help)

New member
Hi:
I am new to water detecting and purchased this machine new from White's
to use in a local lake controlled swimming place, where hundreds of people gather to swim.
I hunt in water knee deep to chin deep in all metal mode with a slight hum from the threshold.
The problem is that my machine gathers moisture inside and makes the machine run erratic with false signals
and then it will start to continually flash back and forth between the lights with a constant sound as if the machine is shorted out.
I removed the battery holder today and put in new batteries.
There was no water in the battery compartment so I re-installed it with no change in the behaviour of the machine.
I took the holder back out and left it out all afternoon and replaced it and machine now seems to have fixed it's self for now,
but still has some moisture inside. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I JUST AIR OUT THE DETECTOR AFTER EACH USE,I AM GOING TO MY LOCAL WHITES DEALER MON. I'LL ASK ABOUT SILICA JELL PACKS TO FIGHT MOISTURE. I HAVE NEVER HAD THE FALSING YOU TALK OF THOUGHT. I WATER HUNT ALMOST EVERY DAY NECK/CHIN DEEP NEVER HAD A LEAK!! I WILL POST WHAT THE DEALER SAYS.

Hi:

Thank you for the reply to my question. I guess I need to start airing my machine out after each hunt.
I don't usually do anything to the machine after a hunt.
Do you remove the screws in the top cover or just the battery pack to air out? (Happy Hunting to You)

Here is a picture of the lake swimming hole.

Thank You for your input and help on my question. Here is a picture of the machine with the moisture.
Do you think this is excessive since you have had a lot of experience with them.?
I may send it back to have it checked for a leak but White's is closed for the holidays.

ARE YOU FROM A HUMID AREA?? I WOULD AIR IT OUT GOOD.. SEE IF THIS CURES THE PROBLEM. I OPEN THE BATTERY DOOR AND TAKE OUT THE PACK AFTER EVERY HUNT..I LEAVE IT OPEN TILL I HUNT AGAIN.
