I have a chance to get a whites dfx or the whites mxt pro. Which do you think would be a better machine for coin shooting / jewelry hunting ?

MXT.

I answered elsewhere, but a short answer here is go with the MXT Pro. Never a DFX. If you have the choice, I'd get the MX-7 rather than either of the other two.

I have an MXT Pro and could recommend this detector . It is a great all around detector, plus you have quite a choice of different coil sizes for coin shooting, etc. Best of luck to you.

I have used the Pro since it came out. Had a chance to trade for a DFX. Stayed with my Pro. I like the ability to fine tune with the knobs. Maybe I’m just old fashioned.

I've had them both and the MXT Pro is definitely the one I would go with. It's simple to operate and just works. The DFX is not a bad detector, but it's very complex and doesn't get you anything over the MXT for all that extra complexity.

Just noticed this is an old thread. My 2 cents anyway for anyone else comparing the two models.
