Whites MXT

cocksie46

New member
G'Day all from Aussie, I have just purchased a used Whites MXT in as new condition from the US and hopefully it will arrive this week. I have read lots of the info here on this forum and it seems like the MXT is a very good machine. I have owned quite a few different brand detectors over the years, some good :) some not so good  so I hope I have done the right thing buying this one!!! Any tips or info would be appreciated, I mainly hunt coins but will be doing a bit of gold hunting as well. Picture of the detector attached - seems to be in good condition:whites:

Cheers,
Kevin

You will love the MXT as you get to know it.
See if you can pickup a copy of the MXT Edge. It's very informative on the workings of the MXT.
It would also be a good idea to pickup one of the smaller coils.
The DD coils hunt better in trashy areas.
Most around my parts use the 6X10 or 4X6 to nugget hunt.
Good luck and have fun...

Ditto on everything HuntinDog wrote. You will do well with the MXT. She looks a well kept machine. Good Hunting!!

DITTO! I couldn't have said it better. You're going to love that machine! HH, Nancy

Thanks everyone for the replies, I can hardly wait for it to arrive, I think our customs are very slow over here, so I just have to wait  I will try to order a copy of The MXT Edge from the US as I haven't had any luck trying to locate one here in Aussie - Amazon website shows 2 available so I will order from them

Cheers,
Kevin

Looks like i'm out of luck trying to get the MXT Edge from Amazon, they will not ship to Australia.:veryangry: I've tried searching on the net but can't seem to find a dealer who sells that particular book. Anyone on the forum know where I would be able to purchase one and have it posted to Aust.???? I would be happy with a second hand one if anyone wants to sell one!!! I look forward to your replies.

Cheers,
Kevin

Kevin- Shipping from the states to you is about $40USD so add the price of the book & your are looking at about $70USD. I might be able to find one if the guy still has it. Let me know
Woof

Thanks to "hunt4fun" who emailed me a link for the MXT Edge book - it has been ordered and is on it's way, very reasonable price and postage - $35.95 australian.
The worst part is the waiting!

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi cocksie46,

Hope The MXT Edge book arrives soon. The second, third etc. read will make increasing sense with lots of practice between reads. Run a google search for The Very Unofficial MXT. The result should yield a lot of very good MXT user info. Take the time to learn the MXT's language and it will perform well for you.

Bob aka Hunt4Fun

G'day from Aussie, Yahoooo - MXT arrived today:clapping: It's in beautiful condition, not a mark on it:happy: Now all I have to do is read the manual and head out for a swing to see how it performs!!! Hopefully the MXT Edge book should arrive in the next week or so - more reading:rolleyes:. Thanks for all the replies, I'll let you know how I go with it.

Cheers,
Kevin

I like the relic mode trigger forward and use the VDI numbers as a guide.
Mine is the older MXT with the 9.5 coil.

I have noticed that the threshold in coin and jewellery mode is sort of "chattery" but when you switch to relic it is nice and steady - is this normal??? This was with the detector inside as I haven't had a chance to go out in the field yet. I have done some air tests and I must say I'm impressed with the depth but I know it will be different in the field, I hope to get out this weekend:detecting: Overall impressions - it is a very nice, solidly made unit and in my opinion, well balanced.

Cheers,
Kevin

yes, that's normal. If you try pushing the trigger forward on Relic, you will see it gets chatter as in CJ

Isn't it always the way:veryangry:Got up early this morning, done all the chores the wife had for me:thumbup: Loaded the MXT into the car read y to hit the field - down came the rain:ranting: and it's still raining but slowly easing!!!! I hope tomorrow is a better day as I can't wait to try the MXT out.:detecting:

Cheers,
Kevin

Hah! I had to stop and think when you said this morning. It's 3 am here and well before daylight. I forgot you were in Australia...Best of luck with the weather and detecting!

The MXT Edge book arrived today, it looks very comprehensive and informative so looks like I'll be reading for a few days:) Only took 10 days to arrive from the US, I thought it may have been longer, excellent service from Jeff Foster. Rain has all gone, so hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to give the MXT a run:detecting:

Cheers,
Kevin

Good luck and hope you have a great time detecting. Keep us posted. HH, Nancy
