Whites TDI

If you can modify a thru hole TDI a surface mount unit can be modified the same way a circuit is a circuit SMT is just a little smaller, I have been an Electronics Tech for 30 years, and it does not make any differance if it is SMT or through hole..

I also own one of these units this is the best detector of the 8 that I own it is just an amazing piece of equipment, and you are offering it for a good price.., I have recoverd some very small targets at 3 feet and found some very small gold nuggetts with it in highly mineralized ground where none of my other detectors would work, minelab eureka gold my fisher gold strike, would just go bezerk because of all the hot rocks and tons of black sand.

Update: Actual coil does have wear from use on the bottom. Found last night that the pictures I took were with a coil cover on the coil. So just want to make sure that I am not misleading anybody.

I'm not an electronics technician, so - with full respect for Prospector 55's expertise (and I'm sure he knows what he's talking about), I will offer one comment. So far the only person who I know of with experience modifying these is Reg Sniff. He has both types and has made it clear that the modifications are more practical (and perhaps ONLY practical) on the through hole models. Besides the difficulty of working with SMT components, I believe that it involves some adjustable components on the early models which were replaced with fixed value components on the SMT units.

I have one and it's a great detector - google Reg Sniff and TDI and you will find lots of info.

Thanks Rick,
I also spoke to Mr. Bill about TDI mods and he is also able to do mods to the TDI. Mr. Bill is very familiar with the TDI because it is based on an Eric Foster design and Mr. Bill is also the sole authorized sales agent for Eric foster machines here in the US.
