I am a member on a lot of detector forums.I love it when these people start downing other people because of their choice of a metal detector.I have used ALL the major brands in my 35 years of detecting.One thing I wondered is,who makes the best detector.MY personal preference is the Explorer II.Is this the best?I have been with friends with detectors that were not top of the line and they found some great finds.The bottom line is " Any metal detector is only as good as the person pushing it".I think people who do this,is very narrow in their thinking,and don't have a clue as to what is really going on with metal detectors.The idea is,Have fun,enjoy your day,find some good things,and make friends along the way.HH
 
I wouldn't knock any person on an opinion but, I agree that if you are enjoying the hobby,making nice finds, there is no need to look for miracles,Breaking down alloys etc.On the other hand if you specialize,deep dive,heavy minerals,etc.then it would be wise to ask and compare.If my detectors,I have 3, only because of new technology updates operate like they do.I will give them to my grand children.Which means I'm satisfied.That's all that really matters.

Very true, I have met many people who use other brands and they seem to find as much as me. SO I would say it is the person behind the machine and the location they are swinging it in. HH
 
The forum has some very good engineers that read and post to the forums. Kirk is one of the best I run across and Jeff Foster on the DFX forum is outstanding. However, mine is pure academic puffery. What I have are opinions and you know what they say about opinions? Just like other parts of a man we all have them.
