Who has used both the pro-pointer and the pistol probe?

Bill_S

Well-known member
What did you like or dislike about both. I currently use the pistol probe but I have a new in the box pro-pointer. Cant decide to whether keep the Garrett or sell it. I really like the depth the pistol probe gets........;o)

I'm using both of them.
Out of the box side by side, the PistolProbe is more sensitive and deeper detecting.
Size wise you know.
The Pro-Pointer fits in the leg tool pocket of my coveralls when prospecting and therefore more convenient to carry.
There is a very simple way to increase both the sensitivity and dept of the Pro-Pointer to beyond that of the PistolProbe.
Details on how to do it can be seen here.

Bill,
Have you used the Propointer? I get 2 inches on a coin and better than that on a tab. The pistol looks like a gun to me.(hence the name) Plus the switch seems a little awkward. I haven't owned a pistol but used one a little and it just didn't feel too whippy to me. I vote for the Propointer.

And your problem is?

Could use the extra cash if I sold the pro-pointer but dont want to start using it and then sell it used if I dont like it.......Was just wanting some opinions.

Oh, by the way, Bill_S, if I were you I'd sell the pistol probe. Good luck. Happy Hunting:)

Thanks. Followed the link, tried the trick with the metal. It really works. Got me to thinking if it work for on a metal detector the same way.

Can't remember where it is but some guy made a similar post only he used aluminum foil. I have yet to try it.

Here is a use for them otherwise useless stainless steel rings often found on beaches.

Imagine how useful it could have been, had been included in a review or field test.

Some make it happen.

Some watch it happen.

Some wonder what happened.
