Why are the F75 and F70 not locking on coins?

I hear this alot and I personally experience it are we doing something wrong here?? Like for an example when I hit a wheat penny at 6 inches and there's no trash around the ID still jumps from 50-72?? it will sometimes hit tab then zinc then dime? Am I doing something wrong?? I have the 11" DD coil on it and it's supposed to be more accurate and stable so this should help but it still jumps alot????? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using 4H and see if it gives you a consistent high tone. Remember the audio and target ID are completely independent of each other. Always dig by the audio first and then look to the screen for a second opinion. Very few times will the audio be off. There is alot of factors that affect the targets ID that is why you might see a wide range of jumping on some targets. Anything from tilted coins to co-located trash and good targets close together can cause the same jumpy numbers.

stop looking at the id go by the sound or you will miss some good objects

Could also be the detector saying there is more than one conductive piece around. I have seen a lot of ID bounce with two different targets close to each other and with heavy iron streaks in the soil. If the coin is by itself in clean ground, the F75 LTD locks on numbers pretty well to impressive depths.

Read over page #22 & #23 of your owners manual.

Bottom of page #22, "Sweep Speed", and top of page #23, Search Techniques, "Sweeping Searchcoil".

Following that advice, most would have minimal problems with ID'ing.

Good luck

Swing speed is critical on the F75...even more so on the LTD model..It just takes a lot of practice and maybe just digging some good sounds and not watching the Id on every sweep..

May I suggest you swing a little faster once you get a nice high target.. Not choppy swings either shoulder to shoulder. Re read your book... You may be surprised !!
