Why I like hunting old homesites

The finds are seldom valuable, but always interesting. Tesoro detectors do a great job at old homesites, especially with a 7 inch coil attached <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">.

Can get pricey real quick. Especially the advertising pieces. They are one of my favorite yard finds and I wish I dug them more regular. Nice stuff!

That's an Alabama good luck aluminum horseshoe with a 1935 wheatie in it. It has "Keep me and you'll never be broke" on it. Here's a little larger pic of the fob and a silver La Dainty advertising thimble I found this morning at an old homesite with the Golden. La Dainty was a line of cosmetics for black people in the 1930's.

I haven't found many fobs and most of the ones I have found were in terrible condition. The fob below is the best I've found as far as conditon. Didn't clean it except for brushing the dirt off, it looked exactly like that when dug.
