Why is the 10" DD coil .......................

so heavy? Completely changes the feel/balance of my Omega 8000...... compared to the same shape and size of the stock concentric coil. Just curious as to the reason? Anybody know? Thanks.

Basically the DD coil has much more copper windings inside the coil case and no other reason, hence the extra weight.

Try the nel sharpshooter..it's a dd coil..great depth and super light..i love mine on my omega..

I have used the 10 dd on Omega, GBP, G2 & F75 and never thought of it as heavy at all.

The 10 inch dd feels light to me too..but after swinging my v3i with the super 12 everything feels light lol..

The 10" DD does feel a bit heavier then the 10" concentric, but I use the 10" DD a lot and never felt it to be heavy. On the other hand, I have the NEL Hunter for my Omega and that 12 1/2 x 8 1/2" DD does make the detector feel a little nose heavy. It sure is a nice deep coil, though. HH jim tn

Well, the 11" DD is bigger than the 10" DD and the 11"dd is about the only coil I use on my Omega, the biggest difference I see in the 10" DD and the 11"DD is the 10" isn't an open frame design like the spider framed 11"DD and the 10" Concentric.
I know for my Fisher 1266 I had a 5" x 10" elliptical coil, which was a closed boxed solid coil and it was much heavier to swing as compared to the open frame 8" stock coil. In this case I think the difference in the weight was the elliptical housing was still filled with epoxy which I think was a lot more than the open frame housing of the 8"
I don't know if the Greek 10" DD is resin filled or not, I don't have one? If it is then that's a BIG patty of resin!!
