Why should I buy a Goldscan 5 rather than a Minelab SD detector?

With all due respect, I would like to ask a straight forward question.
Given that the price of the Goldscan 5 is already in the range of Minelab SDs, why should one pick a Goldscan over the SDs? I have read the web page but am unable to pick up enough info about it to make a good comparison.
Also, are there dealers in Socal where I could possibly give one a spin (or at least caress one) so I can make a better decision.
Just trying to exercise due diligence in making a buying decision.
