I JUST WHANT TO LET EVERYBODY KNOW THAT I'M NOW A PROUD OWNER OF A EXCAL II.
It came in today and just on time for the heat wave that is heating this side of the Country 100+ for the following days ahead.
I order the straight shaft as well and the chestmount just in case.
any recomendations for my first hunt? I will apreciate any sugestions and advices.
Thank you!
now one thing only ( I don't think that I will remember how to swim)
Abel.

Congrats Abel. The Excal is one fine machine and you are going to love it. Depending on where you live, the first place I would try would be the beach. If you're not close to one, the second would be a popular swimming hole or lake with lots of people.

Thank you All! I just got it all together and deady for the weekend. I have 2 places already that I'm going to try it.
Steve are there any settings to start hunting like for example the discrimination at what number to start?
I was testing on my garden with some coins and nails, botlecup and foil to see how far off I have to set the disc to reject nails and botlecup and the lowest is 6, will that be too much like for gold to be rejected as well?
thank you!
Abel

Yes, if you disc out bottle caps and foil, you will disc out some gold as well. I would disc out iron only and dig the rest. A disc setting of 1 will disc out iron. If you want to find gold, you'll need to dig foil as well. Sorry.

Thank you Steve. I will follow your recomencation and disc at 1 only.
are there any good books about this detector?
I own a GT and have read several books and I have learn a lot on them.
anyone that you may recomended will be apreciated.
Thank you!
Abel.

No help with books, but there are tons of posts already with recommendations for Excal books. Just do a search and you'll find plenty. One that I just read was about a guy named Clive Clynick who supposed to have several good books about the Excal. He is on the forum and his user name is "cjc" and he has a web page as well (clivesgoldpage.com).

THANK YOU STEVE, I have place a wanted add on the clasifieds and Clive found me, I will order some from him.
Thank you again.
Abel.
