Will the Sunray Pinpointer work with the Safari?

If the Sunray Pinpointer works with the Safari, is it better than the Garrett Pro-Pointer?
I would appreciate any information someone has on this question. Thanks.

If you are talking about the X1, then the answer is yes.
I have one on my Safari and love it. I did have a Garrett propointer, and make no mistake, they are great tools. I did sell it and get the Sunray X1, only because it was a better set up for me.
I am able to pinpoint down to the point I can pop the coin out of the ground with a screw driver.

I have since bought another detector and am saving up my coins for a new Garret pro pointer. Go figure.

acasto,

Do you think the weight of the Sun Ray is a hindrance and is it easy to set-up and use?
I've read where it pinpoints the target ID and not other junk targets nearby up to 3" deep.

It does have some weight. Set up is simple, just follow the assembly instructions. From what I understand, it functions through your detectors software. Whatever you have discriminated out, will also be disc out with the X1.
The hardest lesson for me is to remember to flip the switch back to your coil before hunting again. I have walked around for several minutes wondering where all the targets went, just to find I am still using the probe function. You won't do that too many times though.

I have found that there is a little delay with the X1. When you first flip the switch to use the X1, there is about a 5 second delay before the it starts to detect the object in the ground. I don't know why that is. Maybe someone can jump in and explain that on for me.

I like it, and will keep it as long as I own my Safari.

acasto,

I appreciate your comments on the Sun Ray x-1 probe. It sounds like a very good probe. Being in my 60's, the weight
might be a factor.
I will put it on my wish list. I've been away from my detecting for awhile due to some major health issues. I'm doing
great now and hoping to discover some great finds this year.

acasto,

Do you hunt pretty much in the open, like beaches, no brush fields, parks, and the like? I was outbid on an X-1 on eBay, and later, I spoke to a dealer about one, and he said that if I hunted in heavy brush, that it could snag on it, if it was mounted on the shaft.

Do you have an opinion about scrub brush hunting with the X-1? He said it was a great probe, but to be careful if I did mostly hunting in brushy areas.

I can't speak from experience. All of my hunts have been open field parks, beaches, playgrounds and tot lots.

I can certainly see the potential. The cable can hang down in a loop. Recently saw one on a Fisher model and it was on top of the shaft.

I guess if you must have one you could figure out a way around most issues. At least that's what I tell myself.
