Thanks guys!!

Pony! Are you finally ready to admit you got a withdrawel problem?

OK, so whatcha do is slip one of those plastic bags from the grocery store over your coil and go hunt a sled hill!
Sure, even the traffic there has been pretty weak due to the extreme cold, but its better than nothing!
You can also read detecting books (I just read my FIRST) or watch youtube vids for a cheap fix...but theres nothing like the real thing you know...Maybe this is good, to take a month or two off? I try to convince myself that it is, help focus up and get ready for the intense dirt work come Spring...Saw on Craigslist Lost and found some guy lost a big gold chain in the snow of a parking lot here....gotta reconnoiter the snow piles and be ready to pounce when they melt..

Now I know this sounds dumb, but you could bag coil and go try a few places through the snow, and try to find the lanes where the targets are, even if you cant get them now, you will know right where they are in the Spring, and then its just a matter of going back and getting them!. Or, you can search the local towns by satellite and lay out a route? Keep your cardio up, you are going to need it!

Keep an eye on the melt, hunt the South sides of buildings when the ground thaws...be very ready to hit those entrances on the South sides Quick! Go through your gear, find a really cheap good gas mileage vehicle that is just YOURS to do with as you please...or, you can hang out here and shop machines, gear, get inspired, or mad, anger is a powerful motivator!

Well stillpony, I live in northeastern WI and know what you are talking about. It was so dam cold during the Polar Vortex, like -22 degrees without wind chill factor. We actually had a frost quake that made a big groan followed by a long bang that shook the house. Can't wait till spring to see exactly where it was. Thought a tree fell on the house it was so dam big and loud. I spend the time reading forums and looking for new places to hunt. Also spend tons of time trying to figure out what my next detector is gonna be. I get so bored even a Tesoro guy like me reads the Fisher forum!

Hah! Rainy! Truly a complement that you would post in here! A lot of the Fisher Swishers and Tee-boys swing both ways, (not me) I'm a conservative, but some do, not that theres anything wrong with that!

You guys have a very active forum, and we can learn a lot from each other.! We used to drive out on the lake at night in MN, when the ice was 4' thick, and you could hear the ice crack and "whoomp" from those frost quakes, watch the northern lights, etc. That had to be something to hear frost quakes from the ground!. Yeah,, we are going nuts here alright!

Hey, mudpuppy. Yeah I like them Tesoro's, BUT I am also interested in Fisher and Whites. I have learned a hell of a lot about operating a F70 here and I don't own one. When all is said and done you gotta buy the detector that best suits your needs. I have been reading a lot on the F70 and Whites M6. Both of these seem to be excellent detectors. My next one needs to be deep. Also looking at a CZ3D, 1270, CZ6, Tejon, and even the new MX5. I'm like you, there is a lot to learn reading the other brand forums, and yep I just might try one of them other brands!

Oh and by the way, I always enjoy reading your post. As a matter of fact, I believe you are the one that taught me to cash in the detecting coinage at vending machines!

First time I have seen a frost quake. Startled the heck out of us.

try hunting some snow banks at the edge of parking lots or curbs or snowr hills

Thanks guys!

Speaking of the dreaded Polar Vortex, we now have another one! The ground frost is going to be ridiculous until about mid-May if this keeps up!

As soon as it hits low 30's, I'm out the door, garbage bag and all! I need a fix, and bad! My wife has been kind enough to hide her underwires around the house for me, but that gets old after a while.

Hope you guys are all well!

You guys think it is cold where you are? Last night I left the snow shovel out on the deck by the old thermometer and this morning when I looked out the mercury was half way down the shovel handle :surprised::rofl::

Central Wis is no different it's so cold out and yes I also fear that the frost in the ground is going to be so deep. It's gonna be middle of summer b4 it thaws out :-( but like everyone else I'm needing a fix soon!

Yeah...this is now going beyond awful and into rediculousness!

It might have been a little funny at first, talking about the cold and all..and I will admit I jumped right on the comedy train in Dec...but no longer..Any of you old enough to remember the late 70's or even the early 80's when Mt St Helens blew? Dont matter I suppose, still, this is some danged old cold! I remember the old MN and WI Swedes talking about how cold it was in the 30's..thats the 1930's for you home gamers..anyway...I bet even those old boys would sit up an notice this one!

You'd think as taxpayers we wouldnt have to put up with this crap? I'm gonna kill the first squirrel I see this weekend just on the principal of the thing, if they even come out at all!..then, make him into a nice stew, or breakfast sammich or something, maybe turn his hide into a finger puppet to amuse the kids?, maybe send his tail into Mepps for .25 cent? Whats a hunter to do with the coins all locked away under the permafrost?...thinking a a breakfast sammich, its easier and dont dirty up the pots so much,...Lord how we suffer!:sadwalk:

Just remember, a squirrel is a fuzzy-tailed rat with a good PR firm.
And I hear them Soviets air dropped a bunch of special "ninja squirrels" around Wisconsin and Minnesota. Trying to prep for an invasion during the cold-war.

Aw heck, they are prolly all dead by now.

Hey, what's that peeking in your window?
