Wireless Headphones for your Metal Detector

Tony N (Michigan)

Active member
Finally I'm untethered! If you go here: http://spannsolutions.com/

you can see a really great set of headphones and wireless setup for your detector.

Just a word of caution, you need to install the volume limiter between your detector and the transmitter or it might overdrive the transmitter and give out less volume to your headphones.

So how did mine do? Fantastic!

No longer will my headphone wires get tangled up in the woods.

Of course, for the price, you are not going to get headphones as perfect as the Gray Ghost headphones but they are good enough.

But it is nice that no longer does my SunRay probe get tangled up in my headphone wire.

Oh and you can walk around the house listening to your favorite music and even outside the home.

Hi Tony...I checked it out & have been looking at doing this for a while now Just a couple questions...Quote "Just a word of caution, you need to install the volume limiter between your detector and the transmitter or it might overdrive the transmitter and give out less volume to your headphones." On the web site it doesn't say anything about a limiter...Is that extra??? How much weight does it add??? Could you post a pic of your set-up??? Thanks...HH...Tom

Transmitter is very small and ear phones are the behind the neck kind that set on your ears. Nimh battery's. If you get any interference it changes freq. They work on all my Detectors. They have a volume control. Response is 80Hz to 20 KHz. The charger charges the phones and transmitter at the same time. Try them out I really like mine. For $40 bucks they are worth it. :D: :D: :bouncy: Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

tomtowns, the limiter is included in the package. It is a teenly little volume control between two wires with a mail jack on one end and a female jack on the other end.

Don't go for the Radio Shack one. I've gotten wireless stuff from them and they were junk. There is hardly anything I've ever gotten from them that didn't have some problem with it. The nine extra dollars you spend on this one is well worth it. Besides, with this one you can plug it into your stereo in your living room and lay down on your bed back in your bedroom and listen to music or go outside and work in the garden or whatever.

Radio Shack's only go to 30 foot from the source. These I'm talking about for my detector and stereo go to 100 feet and also have dual frequency shifts (if one freq. has interference) and the headphones also have a volume control as well.

The weight added is about 2 to 3 ounces.
I'll see if I can get a picture tomorrow. It comes with a pouch that velcro's onto your detector and the transmitter goes in that pouch.
