Plenty of vol. and tones sound good on my SE and was good on my Exp ll. and all my detectors for that matter. Had to get a short pig tail and a 1/4 X 3/8plug. Used velcro sticky back on the TX and on my stand on my SE. Anyway you can figuare out what you need. They work great for the woods and really any where else for that matter. They were on sale so I bought 2 sets. They were $43 total and that was on sale. :D: :D: :bouncy: Jerry aka Tinfoil.

There are evidently some wireless headphones that have a delay. Not really handy for metal detecting unless I am following you with my Explorer. :bouncy:

I looked at a few and may check out the Radio Shack ones mentioned here. There also is a portable bluetooth setup that is a transmitter and a receiver so you furnish the headphones ie. the headphones plug into the receiver and the transmitter plugs into the metal detector. The product is from Creative Labs but seems to have been either discontinued or is still in development since no one seems to have the product but is often mentioned in their price lists.

Things to look for in wireless headphones:

1) Type of transmitting? Infrared? Almost useless due to line of sight. Radio? Promising but limited it seems. Bluetooth? Very promising and latest in hi tech with most selection. Higher the bandwidth and lower the delay, the better here.
2) Portability? Smaller is better, of course. :>
3) Batteries? Rechargeable batteries with replaceable batteries would be the best bet.
4) Headset? Most wireless setups seem to limit you on the type of headset and look to be uncomfortable for long durations. I'd like to be able to choose my headsets based on time of year since summers down under are way too warm for bulky headsets.
5) Ability to reduce noise interference from metal detector and electronic probes?
6) Volume control?
7) Comfort?

Anymore criteria to look at? I have done my fair share of looking for wireless headphones and setups and none seem to be the perfect match yet.

Any ideas?

cheers...Keith
