Wireless Headphones

Hi Guys,

Having had a look at previous posts, I still can't figure out if these Logitech Bluetooth wireless headphones will work on the SE..Has anyone tried them and if so, do they work? or do they have a delayed signal from the transmitter to the headphones?.

Please help.....Regards ...Boony

When you posted your message, I had already ordered a set of the Logitech Blue Tooth Wireless Headphones for my SE and I have been awaiting delivery so I could help answer your question. I just received them and did a quick test. I did not get the exact model you are looking at. I believe mine are the newer version of the model you posted about. There was a very tiny delay, milliseconds I would guess, but after hearing a good signal, I could pinpoint quick and easy. I think they will work great. I paid about $94 total for them at Newegg.com. That was the cheapest I could find. I almost bought the model you posted about since they were a better price, but decided I would get the newest version in case there had been a delay problem on previous models. My model # is 980461-0403.
Hope this helps.
Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks very much for the reply, I was beginning to think that there were no other Bluetooth users out there. I gather that you think the slight delay is not a problem so that's good news.
I have found a pair in my home town and the retailer has been good enough to put them on charge over the weekend, so I'm going to slip into town first thing Monday morning with the SE and try them out in the shop.
If they work OK I'll grab a pair because I am really sick of the headphone cord. I'll keep you post on the results.
Thank again Jim for your reply

All the best.....Boony

Boony & Jim - please let us know how they do in actual hunting. The delay sounds like a real bad thing to me, but maybe adapting to them would not be as bad in reality as I would guess.

I also just hate the Headphone Cord, and anything to eliminate it would be worth the prices you have stated, but the delay you mention scares me a bit.

I have had my EX II for less than a year and still learning, of course, and after using Savage's KOSS's versus my cheap headphones has made a significant difference and was still thinking of moving up to the Sun-Ray's since Sunzabeach's surprised me in the quality of the signals and the tone difference - AND, the reason stating all this was to see what you both think of the sound quality and tones of the Bluetooth, and if I'm lucky, your thoughts on a comparison?

Any thoughts would help and real interested to here what you all have to say.

Thanks again. Krusty (EX II):pulltab:

Hi Krusty,

I'll stick a post on Monday afternoon after I try these Bluetooths on Monday morning.
As far as price goes do a bluetooth wireless headphones search on Ebay there are heaps of them, here in Oz they seem to be selling for $25 to $35AUD.

Regards...Boony

I picked up a pair of behind the ear RF wireless headphones at Tandy/Radio Shack for about USD60 as recommended in the earlier thread of wireless headphones. I have tested them on my Explorer II and there is no perceptible delay. The headphones seem to be comfortable and since I often wear full brimmed hats to avoid sunburn, more convenient. Since I am still on crutches, I cannot give them a field test but so far, I like them. btw, the whole setup (transmitter and receiver/headset) is rechargeable with one power brick...bloody brilliant.

Also, if you are looking at bluetooth headphones, look for those incorporating A2DP technology. This technology allows for better audio transmission over bluetooth.

cheers Keith :ausflag:

I think I'll take a trip to Radio Shack myself and see what they have, even if only to look thru their catalog (storming here now, so a good time for an errand anyways).

Still wondering on the sound quality though, but, since, no guts - no glory, maybe I should do some searching today and maybe order a pair anyways and let you all know what I find out! I have only been to one Civil War site ever, but it was an overgrown & bushy area there with massive weeds, clinging vines and the famous "Stickers" that grabs your cords, you and your clothes and does draw blood - so the "Cordless" Headphones sounds like the cure for it!

Keep posting all and I'll keep reading & learning! Now if I can just take the dollar from Savage for our oldest coin hunting bet, I'll be set for today (if it quits raining that is, and if not, we will just have to swap detecting stories again and I'll have to put up with his "I" took "Your" dollar last time bragging:starwars:....sheeesssshhhh).;)

Thanks all! Krusty:minelab:(EX II) :pulltab:

Hey Krusty.
I was able to try mine yesterday and was very impressed with the sounds of the tones, much better than my normal headphones which I thought were good.
Very deep iron tones and smooth pleasing to the ear all around tones.
Not the most comfortable to wear on my big ears, but I could move them occasionally for a better feel.
The delay was only evident on bench testing and not a problem while hunting. I did not notice it at all and I really enjoyed them.

Thanks for the response Jim. I have also emailed a request to Sennheiser for more technical information for their own Wireless Headphones.

From all my searching so far, other manufacturers rarely give you any information for the real performance of their sets via impedance, etc. They are most interested in stating distance and "great sound quality" (?) - but since most are for I-pods and the like, higher end sound quality does not seems to be their main marketing concern. I believe yours are 32 Ohms and for the higher end standard headphones (Sun-Ray, Black Widows, etc), it seems the better quality units are all higher Ohms and kind of looking for a better variance versus price and then make a decision from there, but might still purchase the same pair you have there as it seems to be working great for you.

Glad to also hear the delay does not seems to a problem - but for the time being, does the the higher tones (like weak silver signals) come in good and loud? Pushy, but still real interesting to hear a future post back as you use them more.

Thanks again and have a "better day".

All the tones, iron through silver, came in clear and extremely loud. I actually had to turn down the volume on the headphones. I normally hunt in Ferrous so iron was very low and silver very high pitched.
So far so good.

:pulltab:Thanks again for your response Jim.

Maybe for the time being I should just look into getting a pair, and as earlier suggested, make sure they are listed with the A2DP (but don't have a clue what that stands for - just an upgrade or better version it seems).

The only last questions is the jack. It seems it has the smaller one, and I would have to get the 1/4 jack adaptor wouldn't I? Radio Shack had the BT's believe it or not, but for I-Pod's only and did not see if they were compatible or not. Soooo, would still have to find who stocks them other than on-line.

Soooooo - no more cord problems then???

You definitely have to get the plug adapter from Radio Shack or another store with electronics and I really don't have any idea where you could buy the headphones locally. They are cheaper than MSRP online even with shipping. I've never seen them advertised by the forum sponsors either. The model # I am using is 980461-0403. Do a search and check Best Buy or what other stores you have in your area. If you want, you can send me a PM if you have any more questions. I'll be glad to help.
Good Luck.
Jim
