Besides the regular church this morning this afternoon was a keynote for us...we were a 'ministry of the United Methodist Church'. Today we are a chartered UM church. We were nonored to have the Bishop come on such short notice. Usually his schedule is filled 3 years ahead but he came today. The District Superintendent came as well...I love this guy. Funny and a Godly man ...even in his robe (first time I had seen him in his robe.)
Our church had over 200 visitors from other churches who came to be a part of this spectacular event. Ours is a small building and they all had plenty of room.
We have been collecting money to buy mosquito nets for chirldren of Africa for about a month. The DS told us of the other churches who have contributed...many larger than us and many combined theirs with a couple other churches. Average donations from those churches was as little as $70+ to over $500.
Our little group (of which we have had over 166 come to our church, approx. 139 call this their home and 60+ were there today to put in their memberships and to particpate in the chartering) donated over $450...and this is a community that is financially hurting.
A donation was taken of all in attendance for more funds for the nets to protect the children of Africa from Malaria. The combined total was over $10,000 - yes ten thousand dollars.
One net costs $10.
Our little praise team of about 6 people became an awesome choir of 14 whose voices filled with the Spirit of God brought tears of joy to many. Everyone felt the presence of God in our little church.
I pray that not only are the children saved from Malaria but each finds Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
This has been an awesome day! Thank you Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Blessings to all
