One lead from a lady gave me another old beach area.I need to get my waders out and hip mount the Sovereign.LOL maybe its a good time to get an Excalibur.By the way cdsmith46 our prodigal son is looking for a Sovereign all leads appreciated. Thanks Ron

Sovereign and an Excal would be a great combination.

There is no place better then the museum or local historical maps to find those old sites where Colonial settlers lived . Good luck Jim

Matt, interesting research details at the museum. From an old news clip,a old farm house on my street in 1942 was a site where multiple murders took place.Lot of history is hidden away or for gotten on purpose. Now if I can just find out where the Purple gang hid their loot. Thanks Ron

There's a story in my area about some bank robbers or something from Canada who took a boat across lake Erie and then hid some gold bars (or was it gold coins?) in the woods next to a river. That's pretty near by and I know the block of woods where they are said to have hid it. Unfortunately, that park system that owns that land does not allow metal detecting and is very strict about it, so all I can do is drive by those woods and wonder if that gold awaits to this day. I don't remember the specifics of the story, but if I remember right they were killed so the gold was never found in it's hiding place.

I've got a story about a nearby side street in my neighborhood. I was looking through some old history books and found a story about a old man who would ride his wagon down that street and always carry a pouch of chew with him. He had quit chewing years ago, but he still carried the pouch with him. He would tell people it's to remind him of his "Won't Power", in that he won't chew again. Don't know why that silly story stuck with me, but every time I drive down that street I think of that for some reason. Just thought it was funny.

I've got a lead on a bunch of coin counter fitters I dug up in a local history book that hid out in a high spot in a swamp to counter fit coins back in the 1800's. I've tracked down some railroad tracks that show on the old and new maps and still exist, and the old map shows the swamp that was named as their hide out. I've been meaning to walk those railroad tracks and see if that swamp still exists, as there is industrial buildings in the general area that block my view (or ability) to know if the swamp is back there. I have a feeling that swamp might have been filled in and built on, but one of these days I'll hike those tracks and see for sure. The way I hear it even old counter fit coins can be worth some money sometimes.

Critter interesting stories, most I run across are dead end leads, but there is always one that will pay off. Thanks Ron.
