Worship in Genesis: Two Classes of Worshipers

Read for This Week's Study: Gen. 3:1-13, 4:1-4, 6:1-8, 12:1-8, 22:1-18, 28:10-22, Titus 1:2.

Memory Text:

"Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.

Great point Martin. I'm a congregational worship leader in my local church. I've always been fascinated by how most folks look for churches where the "worship" suites them. Worship was never about "us". It is about "HIm". We should worship Him the way He wants us to worship. We work very hard at "creating" worship experiences. But we usually let our desires interfere in them. There will probably be a lot of surprised folks when we arrive in heaven and see what real worship really looks like. Thanks for the post.

AMEN!! You are so right!

As Christian men and women we all need to keep track of our motives, and why we desire what it is we want or want to do and become. The hard part can often be that we loose track of the fact the Lord put many of our desires in our hearts, and it is The Deceiver who twists and perverts them. We know that was Him if they are biblical and sound, and if neutral (my desire to fly) then how do we know? May be that the Lord put that desire there to accomplish his will in another life than my own or to take the word some person who only I can relate with because of my -unique- story and hardships. Though it is a given that most of our most personal thoughts and struggles are shared by most people it often takes someone with similar experiences to make that break through to certain individuals.

I really do believe that; By following our true hearts desires and living a whole and Godly life (as best as a human can), and carrying the Word forward to others, we truly show our faith and worship the Lord in our actions. I often struggle in this "simple" thing. It becomes difficult when the world around us is telling us that our dreams and goals are unrealistic and foolhardy, even "The Best Christians" around us unwittingly and often unknowingly step on what it is God would have us do.

Any thoughts on this and how it relates to the topic?

Jeff
