WOT or Stealth X12?

Jack(IN)

New member
Going to buy on or the other. Have seen great results from both, but since I've not used the WOT and only an hour or so on the X12 I'd hope I can get feedback from users?? Help would be appriciated!

I have been using a WOT for about 4-5 months and it is a great coil. Just got an X-12 and am going to try it out today. The WOT is great for coverage and nice in places that are not too trashy. However. it is tough to get into some tight places and on the EX2 it makes for a heavy outfit unless you use a swingy thingy or something similar. A couple of weeks ago I managed to suck a merc out from under a broken tab under a tree root at about 8-10 inches. Hard to tell as I had to tunnel under the root to get it.This was at a school that had been hammered for years. I guess the broken tab and the root caused it to be missed. Bottom line-get them both

Not sure about the X-12, But I do have the WOT, and have used it for about 8 months. Most of my best finds were when I used the WOT.The negative side is it is somewhat heavy.

I really enjoy using this coil over the stock 10 inch. It covers alot of area and has no problems sniffing out tiny targets.

Jack,

I have, and used both.

I prefer the X12 in many areas that I hunt. Why, Because of the wieght and balance. Also it is able to find small targets, and targets on edge.

The WOt is also a good choice, If you are wanting to cover large areas with little trash. The reason I say with little trash is that the footprint is so large that it is difficult to recover multiple target quickly, without making a large hole.

I hope this helps,

I have heard good things about both. I do own a WOT and can tell you it's a deep coil. But, it does suffer from falsing if you happen to tap a corn stalk, etc. with the coil. The X12 is more forgiving in that respect and more suited for such areas. In trashy areas the WOT can make you scratch your head at times... :)

For those's that may think that the coils are too heavy.

Here is what you may want to try.
Most of the time people run the stem length too short. Even thou it may seem right....you need to find the point of balance. This means that sometimes you need the coil away from your body further. This will make for a better feel when you swing. It is all in the comfort of the swing, many times that can be adjusted with the length.

If you find that the stock stem is not long enough then there is a longer stem from Minelab it is the tall man lower rod.

Joe, your right about that. I bought my WOT from you, and when I first started out I didn't have the balance just Right, causing me to get tendinitis in my elbow, better known as (Tennis Elbow). Once I adjusted the balance I haven't had a problem since.

I use the stealth x12 on 99% of my hunts. On land ,wet sand & shallow water, it works very well for me.On wet sand & water I have to turn the sen. down a bit because of falsing but on land I run it wide open at 32 & have no problem. The WOT I used one of my friends for a month its good also but I had much more falsing. I personally prefer the x12 I feel you get just as much depth, it lighter,& a we bit smaller & covers good ground.

Well, took he 12x for it's first spin today and found 28Q, 31D,8N 17P & 1 14K gold mans wedding band. I think it works better on multiple trgets than the WOT and is a bit more stable. I was running Sens 32 all day. It is lighter but I use the swingy thingy so that isnt an issue. For me it is a toss up as I like both coils
