I would like to get some `hands on`info of the beachscans field preformance, depth, stability, pinpointing etc...how does it preform `in`the water??Any info will be appreciated. Thanks,Ralph

Hi Ralph,
The Beachscan has been in production for about eight years and gained a good reputation as a deepseeking, reliable beach detector that was economically priced. There was a test report in the UK Treasure Hunting magazine some years ago, and I will see if I still have it. The stability and pinpointing are very good as is also its detection range, yet it runs on just eight AA batteries. The current version, the Beachscan Mk2 uses exactly the same electronics as its shaft mounted predecessor, but is housed in a weatherproof belt mounted box. Pictures and further details can be seen on the Surfscanner site by clicking on the button at the top of the page.

I was wondering how well it would preform in a salt water beach `in the water`,naturally provided the control was kept DRY !Mr Bill did remind me that the control was`nt waterproof.I read the ad on the surfscanner site and it sounds like a Hot machine for the price but its always nice to get some feedback from the field.Ill be interested to see the report you have..thanks,Ralph

Hi Ralph,
Several users in the UK use it in the water and it performs as good as on the beach. One customer mounts the conrol unit up on his shoulder to make sure it doesn't get dunked. The odd splash won't hurt.

Eric, right now Im using my friends Garrett sea hunter(without using any disc.) which is only a few months old, would the beachscan outpreform it?? I have a feeling hed sell it to me(he likes his fisher better)but Im trying to make the right decision((right Mr.Bill)) and get the most `bang for my buck`..Its only the Gold Im looking for in the water, not coins or even silver. Thanks again,Ralph
