would the aquastar work well for nugget hunting?

It does not have ground balance. I wished that the Aquastar did have ground balance. Because I did compair a SD2100 against the Aquastar in a air test. I use 8 inch loops on both units. The target was a 1.3 dwt gold nugget. The Aquastar got around 4 more inches on the gold nugget as I remember over the SD2100.

Terry,
The comparison between the aquastar and the sd2100, was that with the 8" DD or the monoloop coil on the 2100?

I am glad that you realized your mistake on the Minelab 8 inch loop. I have been going thru a period of not find very much gold jewelry since the start of the year. Just finding a lot of silver and junk jewelry. But today, I did get a 900 platinum cross with 10 diamonds for a total of 0.7 carats. There was a 850 platinum chain on the cross that is to fine for my Aquastar to detect.
