...You can tell just by driving around;Montague was a BIG DEAL,between the 1800's,and the mid 1900's.......It was a big gathering spot for logging operations,in this part of the state.quite a few lumber barons built some HUGE homes,in the 1800-early 1900's here....Driving by these homes;one can just imagine, what awaits to be found under them pretty; huge lawns.......Most of these homes are empty, probly summer"cottages",but MY what a BIG cottage!!!,others are for sale............AND,there is some of them other empty places I touched on earlier:An overgrown paved road, going up thru the woods to the beach;with trees growing up thru the pavement.....That "PIGEON HILL RESORT",not 1/2 a mile from Marcia's house,on the lake side of the road(I read a real estate sign stuck in the window;said"AVAILABLE FOR UNDER $200,000"),but its up for auction the 21st of this month, due to foreclosure....Anybody buys that resort, they are going to need DEEP pockets:the roofs, plumbing and electrical on EVERY building needs COMPLETE renewing, especially if it will open again,as a resort........STILL:I can just imagine, the potential for finding goodies in there detecting,it's QUITE old.......There is a house in town right on the way to Marcia's,on a corner:a historical sign says part of the house's yard,is an Indian Burial Ground(OFF-LIMITS TO ME,LAWS OR NO LAWS PROTECTING GRAVES)....I have been asked in the past,if I have ever detected graveyards,to which I said "NO,for 2 reasons:#1;there are laws protecting any gravesites in this country, whether they are lost and forgotten,or not,and #2:In my opinion, detecting a gravesite-Even if it WAS legal-shows a gross lack of respect, for the person(s) interred,therein.............
