I got to do a real life comparison yesterday with the 10 x 12(my buddy Mike had it on his Explorer 2) and the 15 x 12 that I had on my Explorer XS. The signal I got had INDIAN written all over it. It was showing maybe 1/8" black on the depth meter. Since I was using a huge coil I knew this one had to be deep. My machine was singing out a high tone walking all around it in every direction but the 10 x 12 on the Explorer 2 would only grunt. Both machines were set up to 32 manual sensitivity and -15 iron mask(one thin line). I was really hoping this wasn't iron and was pretty sure it wasn't but I don't know the coil that well. I dug a big plug and the probe would not sound.
A few more inches of dirt out of the hole and I got a grunt with the probe. A little more dirt out of the hole and the coin started singing.
At least 10 inches down was an 1893 Indian. This was repeated with a shot gun shell that was in the coin range a little later. It was a little deeper than the indian, maybe 11 inches down. 10 x12 wouldn't sound but the 15 x 12 sang out.
In about 3 hours of digging I managed to find 3 indians down deep in one little area of a hammered park!
So far the 15 x 12 has found 7 indians in 3 hammered parks. I'm starting to wonder if silver dimes are going to work as well with this coil....????
