This was written by a little 'ole lady who has an embroidery site. She sends a short note most every Friday with many of her design. Interesting. Merry Christmas everyone.................
Happy (late) Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza and Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Yule Tidings !
I put them in alphabetical order as to not reflect any kind of bias. If you say Happy Holidays it is some way is disrespecting Christmas. In our home I call it "Happy Hollar Days" because that seems to be the prominent activities. Many don't know but Christmas was originally a pagan holiday and all of the Christmas traditions are pagan. I know it may be hard to believe and I hope no one is taken offense but it is true. When the Christians were trying to convert the pagans they had a difficult time because the Pagans like to party. To remedy this problem they created Christian holidays to replace them. All except the Romans included orgies. Keeping the Pagan traditions and rituals. So every time I see a "Keep Christ in Christmas" I snicker. Besides Thanksgiving the only holiday that was not divided from Pagans is Halloween. Isn't that funny! Yes, the puritans on the eve of "All Saints Day" would dress up in ghoulish costume and run through the towns to scare away the evil spirts and clear the path for the saints. Bystanders would throw treats at them to keep the evil spirits away. So when I read that "Scary costumes" are not allowed, I snicker. Hey, that was the point of the ritual! I can't imagine how many evil spirts will be frightened away by a "Princess".
So in all I will leave you with this. Be secure in your belief and tolerant of others. There is no wrong or right way to believe. There is no monopoly on Christmas. It is what you feel in your heart not what others see on the outside. Not if it is a nativity scene, Menorah or a Santa. Embrace your neighbor whether they are Muslim, pagan, Christian, Jewish. Remember the season is about love and peace not gifts and traditions. So with that I will say
