Ws4 headphones discrimination

Xp mike

New member
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and metal detecting.
I've got an xp deus lite and Just wanted to ask a question on discriminating iron
Do I just drop it to 10 on the headphones.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

You need to get Andys book, it is the best 20 bucks you can spend.......

Disc is set to various amts depending on your area and what your doing, I use 2, others zero, others yet 8....

Thanks for replying Jim.
I keep reading the hand book
Going over it and it explains it for the remote
But doesn't state if its the same for the headphones.
I just didn't want to set it at 10 thinking I've cancelled
Iron out and in reality I've cancelled the rest out.
I'm also getting decent tones then digging up iron.
Thanks again

Should be able to do everything from the puck on the headphones....Which is basically the same as the remote.

Xp mike,

When you set your disc with the headphones, the default value for some of the factory programs is 10. Deus Fast which is factory program #3 has Disc set at 6.8. You can set Disc in any program independently as well as sensitivity, frequency, audio response, tones, breakpoints (if applicable), and iron volume. When setting Disc at values less than "10" the last digit is actually a tenths and will blink by itself while the first digit is 1-9. With Disc at values greater than "10", both digits will blink and the tenths value disappears.

What you CAN'T do with the headphones is set Reactivity, Silencer, Notch, Ground notch, TX power and make separate custom programs. You CAN use a friend or a dealer's remote control paired with your existing coil and upload custom programs that way.

I started with the Deus lite setup and got fairly comfortable with the audio components before getting the control box and the 11" coil. Once I got the controller I was able to fine tune programs and was able to find a few more goodies in the same area, but not as much as I thought. Factory programs will perform like a champ 95-99% of the time and you will find plenty of goodies, masked or otherwise, if you get the coil over it!!!

The easiest program for all-purpose hunting in my area was Program #9 or "Basic 2" (pg 73 of Andy;s Book) which uses 8khz, a high silencer value of "4", reactivity 2, and 3 tones. With the phones you can change frequency and tones, and I had great initial success with this program in Bottle Cap Land. High silencer values filter out a lot of iron at the expense of finding deep non-ferrous targets. Kind of depends what you're after and where you're hunting! Good luck and happy hunting!

Great info CZ, I did not know there was some setting the headset would not do......
