WTB Whites 6000 Pro XL

Greetings all, my son and I want to get started in metal detecting and have heard that the 6000 Pro XL is one of the better machines. Would like to hear from anyone that might have a good used one for sale.
Many thanks
Nathan

Hello,

I had an XL PRO for a number of years. I really enjoyed it. It is analog, not digital, but I did not mind it. I started with a CZ5 and it was analog as well. The XL PRO uses the smaller case and 8 AA batteries. It is a sturdy machine and you can use a variety of coils with it. If it fits the XLT, it will work on the XL PRO. When that needle hits a quarter or a dime or reads 5 cents, it is right on. You would not be disappointed with it. It, like all White's is a well balanced machine that you can use for hours with little to no fatigue. It comes standard with the 9.5 inch mono/concentric coil. I purchased a 5.3 inch coil for trashy areas and a Royal 800 coil. I found the Royal easier to pinpoint with than the 9.5 with no loss of depth. All in all, it was an excellent machine. Another detector you could look at is the Matrix M6. It is a wonderful coin machine and it is easy to learn and it has 7 tone ID and VCO pinpointing. Next step up would be the MXT if you want to hunt for gold nuggets and relics. My main coin machine right now is the Spectra V3, and I keep an M6 in my car at all times just in case. Anyway, good luck.

I have one that is in Great shape. It has been sent back to Whites and refurbished I also have these coils 350 coil, 5.3coil, 800 coil, 950 coil and the 11 inch Hot Head coil. The detector has the hard to find meter cover to protect it from any damage. Not sure what I want for it as a package. Let me know if you are still looking. Thanks Jim

Mr. Robertson, thanks for the reply. I am still interested in the metal detector. As I mentioned, we have very little practical experience with detecting but have been told that the pro 6000 XL is one of the best. Could we figure this one out from our experience level?
I am currently working on Shemya Island. It is at the end of the Aleutian chain west of Anchorage about 1500 miles. The island was taken from the Japanese during WWII and the US built a landing strip here. The runway is being reconstructed and I am here as part of that effort. (Wish I had that Whites here) I usually rotate about every 6-8 weeks and have just returned back here today.
Sharpen your pencil and maybe my son and I will be able to acquire it.
Thanks again
