X-Terra 50 finds today...

I got up with my buddy today and hunted a couple of school yards.
The first school wasn't that old, but did yield a bunch of clad for us.
This yard has given up 268 quarters so far and we're still gettin'em!
The second site was older and has yielded to silver in past hunts and I hit a 1943 mercury dime and also found a 1919 wheat penny along with some clad.. nice day to be out!!

Not many hunts yield enough to pay for the batteries used, and a Merc as a bonus, nice!

Great bunch of finds! 268 quarters in one school yard is simply amazing! Any thoughts on why there are so many in one location? HH Randy

In answering your question as to why so many quarters are at that location, I have found this to be the case at several schools nearby and the only thing I can come up with is that although there are other detectorists in the area, no one cares to search for clad in newer school yards.
We searched a high school that I went to that opened up in 1977 and found 190 quarters in one days hunt between two of us, and went back many times after and although we didn't find anywhere near that many, we did find quite a few more... enough to keep us interested.
I found 8 quarters stacked on one another still in the plug when I dug it up.. go figure that one out, I can't!!
To give you an idea of the kind of luck we have around school yards, my best year to date was 969 quarters and this was not the year I found all the quarters mentioned above.
Now I am passing up many penny and dime signals in doing this, but I figured if nobody is getting the quarters, they aren't getting the other coins either, so I can return and get these later which we did.
I still like turning up old silver, but when its too hot to hunt old homesites, the school yards can produce around here.
Below are the results from my last hunt at the school yard we hunted yesterday.
I found the 88 quarters in the photos and my buddy found 64.
It is fun to find coins like this even if they aren't old... buys lots of batteries for my detectors!!LOL

Great find, could you give us a tip on how you got the coins cleaned up

I have a coin tumbler and just add water, aquarium gravel, and a couple drops of dishwash and let tumble for about 2 to 3 hours.
They don't look quite as good and photos, but they are much better than when they first come out of the ground.
