X-terra 50 tones...

Dan-Pa.

Anyone having problems with higher tones. Certainly not pleasing to me but feel its a personal thing as I have a high end hearing problem
and feel thats the culprit not Minelab....For what its worth Explorer and Sov. higher tones were fine with me....

the silver is a total squealer on the exterra series, its very high but fine for my hearing almost better for me ....but i could see it as a problem for some ,,,my downfall is the sov, some of those tones are too close together formy ears .....good luck bud ........

but don't have any problems with the XT50. I did have to get used to the "silver" tone which reminds me of two bottles clinging together but now I like to hear that sound....John

Is with the Quattro as the tones are not adjustable and Explorer if I set the variability to 10 as the high pitch is just too high. I have a high pitch loss and total deaf to some high pitches, but the X-Terra I have no real problem with the high tones. The Sovereign high tones are just right for me and maybe why I love the Sovereign as it does wonders for me.
I wonder if your headphones have something to do with it? I use the UniProbe on the X-Terra, the Timberwolfs on my Sovereign(loudest headphones on the Sovereign my far) and use the Sun Ray Pros or Troy Pros with a amp on my Explorer XS II.

Having just being diagonosed as having defective hearing.

High pitch problem in one ear and low problems in the other
I read this thread with special interest.

At the moment with the X50 and the Explorer II I use Sunrays with separate ear volume adjusters.Jerry.

I thought about different headphones and is surely a possibility.Hard of hearing is one thing and a defect in the high range is another as I love the quarter plus audio, but the mid high tone where a silver dime comes in is very harsh on my ears. Nice forum ask a question and you get some results. Do remember those with regular hearing should have no problems as its probably a single tone where my high tone deficiency kicks in and not a Minelab problem as no one has ever complained. For the record have used Explorer and Sov's and loved the tones.....

Dan as you say it is probably just a range of tones that are giving you a problem, in your case a middle high tone if the quarter is a good tone for you. For me and the Quattro and also the Explorer with the variability at max of 10 the hight tones of a silver dime and quarter are so high pitched it almost a null for me. With the Explorer I can adjust the variability for a 8 and works OK and I can hear the tones.
