X-terra 50 VS. x-terra 70?

Now that some of the more experienced people that have used both the 50 and 70 would post some comments and comparisons would be helpful to all of us. I have a 70 and like it ,but read earlier ,actually before the 70 's had been shipped some people thought they might or might not be worth the difference in dollars. I will never prospect ,but like the beach mode when I do get to Fl. which is usually a couple times a year. I also use a cz there for the salt. Any and all comments would be appreciated.. thanks...Sonny Mike hillis what do you think?

My personal opinion is that I wouldn't have been happy with a XT-50. I had looked at it and read about it, but didn't want one. The feature set didn't appeal to me. Now that I understand how they work, the number segment would have been too broad for my tastes. But again, I'm just speaking for myself.

But I think me and the XT-70 are going to get along wonderfully together. At this point, I am ok with the cost.

We only go around once so if one can afford it why not go for the 70...To me the 50 model is just fine as I don't hunt for gold nuggets, don't need a beach unit or a more specific ID and would bet won't be much difference in depth in either including the 30 model.unless one has real bad ground...I understand the 30 is preset at a ground balance of 6 and guess what couple of places I used the 50 6 was right on...I really don't think its a marketing thing just the ability to choose depending upon our hunting needs and pocketbook..For those non believers higher frequencies are more advantageous in the lower nickel range where most gold jewelry items are found so the two coil combo of the 50 should work out just fine for many....sort of two machines in one...

Your thinking is the same as mine and I would have wasted money buying the X70 as the X50 is perfect on farmland in England.

We dont get any gold nuggets here and the beaches are a few miles from where we dig.

Ground balancing is childs plays and takes less that a couple of minutes to do.

On recenty ploughed and rolled fields I use the 18kHz on the pasture land the 7.5 Coil seems best,its that easy.

Ps. I have found 500 year old Silver hammerd coinage and a 300 year copper coin pocket loss of 7 coins.

Artifacts up to 700 years have also sufaced with this particular detector.

Like you, I don't nugget hunt and rarely go to the beach but I do have a CZ6a that works excellent on our beaches here on Southeast Texas and my XT50 does acceptionally well on gold jewelry as well as relic hunting. Will probably buy an extra coil for the 50....Hope to get to England before I get too old and find some of those extremely old coins...HH John
