X-Terra 50 ??

Flintstone

Well-known member
Hi All, Dose anyone know why when hunting with the X-50 that when you hit a target, pinpoint and set the detector down it goes off, loss of power. When done digging you have to hit power to turn it back on. Is there something wrong with it? do i need to send it to Minelab? Thanks Dean P.S. This is a used detector, dose anyone know how much for a check up at Minelab?

I have an X-Terra 50 also, but have never had this happen.
I have seen where some posted that their X-Terra would shut off while searching and mine did that too a couple of times.
I think there was a problem with the springs compressing in the battery compartment causing a bad connection and the machine would shut down.
You can carefully stretch the springs with a small paper clip and this will probably solve the problem.
Also when replacing the batteries, slowly slide them in the compartment rather than let them drop against the springs.
Hope this helps you out,
Felix

Thanks Felix, I will try this, I got this used ad it is bad condition. Hope i can get it working. I was not told about all this. This seller said it was in very good condition. Coil ears are broke, rod was spray painted, and it wont stay on. Watch who you buy from.

Could have one of the original batches that had that problem. I had the same problem with mine. Since I bought new and it was under warranty they fixed it and never had a problem since. Do what fwcrawford reccommends. Probably will take care of your problem.
