X-terra 70....GB

I see people having trouble with the Ground balance.

The fastest way to Ground Balance is to use the Auto Track.....Then fine adjust from there in manual. This is the fastest, because with the posible of so many settings it will quickly narrow the setting range to the area that you are hunting, If you constantly changing ground then leave it in Track.

I hope this helps.

When manually ground balancing in a field the other day 14 was the magic number no matter where I checked. Now when I got into the area where an old homestead stood the iron in the ground caused the tracking to bounce around in the 40's and 50's when I switched it on. Does that have and adverse affect on performance? I know it is recommended on other detectores with auto trac to lock it in iron, just wondering what the recommendation is on the X-70 for those situations.

thanks
Tom

Yeah that's a good way. Probably don't want to go over many targets during the first few seconds. In my Yard I can't find a very big clean spot so I use auto; then fine tune it in manual.

This is the way that I would handle the situation that you discribed...

After getting into the area where the bouncing occurred, I would find an area that the track would settle, you said 14 seemed to be the constant for the area. Then I would go a couple numbers above that in manual. The years of rusting material caused the 40's and 50's, and irregular operation.

Did this answer your question?

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the response, but it brings up another question! Would not going a couple numbers higher make the GB more negative? That is the way I understand it at least. In my test garden that hurts performance on the mid conductors in iron.
I forgot to mention also that this is uneven (plowed) ground.
