X-Terra 705 Questions

I just bought a 705 Gold Pack so his makes me a noob with noob questions!

I have a CTX and decided on this machine primarliy because it is much lighter, has a back light for night hunting, runs at 18.5Khz which should help in the local tot lots where there is a lot of EMI and comes with a DD coil for my Seattle mineralized soil. I've been doing some air tests on a small 18k chain and found that the machine seems to pick the chain up best in all metal mode. It appears that the factory discrimination patterns don't see the gold chain (at least very). My question is what are you guys doing to make sure you don't miss gold chains? Are you modifying pattern 1 by accepting more TID's? Running in All Metal? Running in Iron Mask? I'm hoping this machine will compliment my CTX by picking up the small stuff.

Good chains can be tough. Take one out and put it on the ground and swipe over it. Depending on the orientation it can give you way different numbers.

It's best to run as little discrimination as you can stand to listen to. I typically run with the two bottom numbers notched out and also 48.

Have fun!

Small gold chains are iffy targets.........I have never dug one up,the ones i have detected were down in the grass or just under the sand... the 10kt 12g bracelet, i found last weekend, laid out unclasped was just covered in the sand and a iffy 2/4 TID......I hunt in AM....4 tone,99% of the time.........

This 10k CZ bracelet was ground into the soccer field it was a solid 8TID....It will find them!
