New here, just got my new 705 and Pro Pointer. Will go out tomorrow and give it a whorl. Wish me luck, very excited.
 
It will definitely be a step up but in a real good way once you get use to it. Be patient and learn what the detector is trying to tell you. I would recommend using the default settings with auto noise cancelling and tracking. Once you get the hang of it try multiple tones 0 discrimination and sensitivity as high as you can still maintain stabiltiy. Be sure and go to the Minelabowners.com forum and join up to download Randy's book and follow his advice. You will be going strong in no time and loving the X-terra !!!

Bill you are going to love it, I had a BH Lone Star before, this thing is awesome. Just got back from a park I had previously hunted with the BH and found a hand full of coins and garbage I had missed with the BH. This unit and the Pro Pointer are made for each other. I will be going out again to another park later today, will post any good findings.
 
Boy loosecanon, must be nice to be retired LOL (I know this guy) Call Dave and take him with you!!! He needs to learn it before we take off to Alaska. I will hold down the fort as someone has to work. Learn this bugger and teach me how to use mine would ya Bud! I am glad you went with this one rather then the other. Happy Hunting
