X-Terra Ground Balance Question

X-Terra Ground Balance Range is 0-20 on the 305, 0-50 on the 505, and 0-90 on the 705. Does this mean that if you GB in the center (10 for the 305, 25 for the 505, and 45 on the 705) you are at the same ground balance point? Not sure I'm making sense or not, so I'll try to clarify my question by asking if the GB range on the 3 models is like the Discrimination Scale on the 3 models, same upper and lower limit on all 3 models...just many more 'slots' (or segments)to allow finer tuning within the same minimum and maximum GB'ing range?

The older I get, the more I realize that I don't know the answer and I rarely understand the question!:help:

Is what you're asking, "Is zero all the same on all three models?"
X-terras are backward to some, because the higher the GB number, the less you are compensating.

Good question! I hope Randy has an answer for us.

Yep. That is correct. Max is Max and Min is Min, on all models. Remember that the ground phase number refers to the X-TERRA's "compensation" for the phase angle of the ground. The lowest GB setting for any X-TERRA models is the most positive ground phase adjustment available and represents a phase angle of (approx) -1. And the largest GB number for any X-TERRA models is the most negative ground phase adjustment available and represents a phase angle of (approx) +9. The difference between each of the models is the number of "adjustments" available in between the highest and lowest numbers.

I've been working on a rather extensive article pertaining to coils and ground phase relationships, for Minelab. It should soon be ready to be posted to their TreasureTalk blog series. http://www.minelab.com/usa/treasure-talk I'll make a post here (announcing it) when it is made available. HH Randy

Thank you Randy for a very clear explanation! I'm looking forward to reading your upcoming article.
