XL Pro and Blue Max 4x6 Shooter DD coil

Well for a while I had been trying to decide between the 5.3" and the 4x6 Shooter DD coil for my XL Pro.

I finally pulled the trigger on the 4x6 Shooter a while back and wanted to give the rest of y'all my impression. Simply put, I love this coil!!!!

This is the best thing since sliced bread for modern coin & jewelry hunting in parks and school playgrounds. We have fairly mineralized soil in my area and I can set the signal balance much higher with this coil as compared to the stock coil. In fact I found two wood chip playgrounds I could max the sig balance out on!

From the tests I have done, this coil does indeed seem to "see" a line as you sweep rather than in a cone pattern. In a wood chip playground with sig balance cranked up just get anywhere near a coin and you get a peep. And you get a nice sweet sound as you take the coil over your target. So it seems to also still be detecting away from the main coil (but with a reduced strength of detection - lower or faint sound like a deep target with the stock coil). This lets you cover a fairly large area quickly in a park or playground even though the coil has a smaller physical size.

Pinpointing is a breeze. I rarely even "click" to pinpoint with this coil as you can usually just take small sweeps and be dead on still in discrimination mode. In pinpoint (all metal) mode the left to right window is very narrow which will put the centerline of the coil very accurately over your target and you then just push and pull the coil away and towards you for max signal. Dead on directly under the coil mounting point every time! Depth reading is a little less than with the stock 9.5" coil, but this is expected.

The target ID on the XL Pro is still deadly accurate with this coil.

Although I have never used a 5.3" Bullseye model, I can absolutely recommend the Blue Max 4x6 Shooter DD coil (Whites current production model for 6.59khz detectors). Worth every penny I spent on this one.

Now I just gotta get a BigFoot before my trip to Ormond Beach this fall!
