XL500 and boat towed applications

Surfline

New member
I have an XL500 and a Minelab Excalibur 800. I would like to add a long extension to the main unit and tow the coil behind a boat. I would like to keep the unit itself topside so that it does not get lost underwater. Does anyone know how I can modify the XL500 or Excalbur to do this (for example tested cable length)?

Thanks,

Surfline

It is possible to use the XL 500 Sea Hunter and the 13 inch coil with a 6 meter extension cable between from a boat, but not at any speed other than very slow and the water dead calm.

Do you know where I can get the 6 meter cable and 13 inch coil? Can a longer cable be used (with smaller gauge wire)?

Thanks,

Surfline
