XLT and Water

Wisconsin Pete

New member
is anyone actually using there Whites XLT in the water? I know you can't get the box wet, but has anyone ever found anything while wading in the water?

Just remember *NOT* to lift the coil too high.

Even though the coil is sealed, the shaft is not. Water will flow inside the shaft right back to the wiring inlet between the control box and the display. So if you lift it too high it can flow inside the shaft and then into the box which is not good at all.

I searched a swimming beach back in June, found some coins and a sterling silver ring. I did not go any deeper than up to my knees though. When I had a signal I marked the spot with my long screwdriver, set my detector back on the beach, then went huntin'.
The first link will take you to my post about what I found in the water, the second one was the first time I searched that lake after an outdoor concert.
